Equine Assisted Grief Support at Happy Dog Ranch Horse Sanctuary in Sedalia, CO
Sometimes grief doesn’t need words…
Being in the presence of horses and nature can offer another way to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and make space for whatever you are carrying.
What to Expect:
Horses meet us exactly where we are, inviting us into the present moment with a calm and steady presence. Sometimes connection happens through grooming or touch. Sometimes it happens from several feet away. Sometimes the most meaningful thing we can do is simply stand quietly together.
Each 75-minute session begins with time to check in and gentle grounding practices. From there, we’ll meet the herd and spend time alongside the horses. Depending on what feels comfortable that day, you might:
Enjoy the peaceful ranch environment
Observe the herd
Pet or groom a horse
Walk alongside a horse
Practice grounding and mindfulness
Reflect on what you're noticing and feeling
Simply sit or stand quietly in their presence
There is nothing you need to accomplish and no right or wrong way to experience a session.
No previous horse experience is necessary. All activities are ground-based—there is no riding.
